CSO caps off year with Lasallian Excellence Awards

Winners reaped awards at the Lasallian Excellence Awards (LEA) held last April 4, 2013, at Prism Plaza, Pasay City.

LEA as an event served as a venue for a multitude of recognition and turnover activities, namely the Student Search for Outstanding Teachers (SSOT), the finalists for the The Outstanding Coed – The Outstanding Young Man (TOC-TOYM) in DLSU, as well as the Student Discipline Formation Office’s awards for student organizations and leaders.

Seven finalists were selected for the SSOT, with one faculty member per college. The top three finalists, most popular among students, were Dr. Leonila Abanella from GCOE, Renato Molano from CCS, and Marvin Castell from SOE. Dr. Marianne Gaerlan from CED won the award for most Facebook likes.

The five finalists for the TOC-TOYM selection were announced during the awards night. TOC-TOYM is the CSO’s recognition of Lasallians who uphold standards of excellence and exemplify Lasallian values.

The SDFO also awarded the Debate Society for its contributions to the fostering of discipline and advocating greater student formation and awareness in the University.

LEA is also the conventional venue for the Harvest of Winners (HOW), the CSO’s annual recognition and awarding ceremony for the year’s most outstanding organizations, individuals and activities. The HOW received almost 180 applications for its numerous awarding categories, yielding only 46 winners for all categories.

Present in the event were DLSU University President and Chancellor Br. Ricky Laguda, De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) President, Electronics and Communications and Engineering Society (ECES) Founder Johnny Sy, Office of Student Leadership Involvement, Formation and Empowerment (Student LIFE) Director Evelyn Lopez-Esparrago and Student LIFE Coordinator for the Operations of Student Organizations Jessica Beatrice Morales.
