A student from Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga jumped off the 26th floor of Kassel Condominum along Taft Avenue earlier this afternoon. The 19-year old Physical Therapy student, who was doing his OJT in Manila, stayed on the floor for at least an hour as two of his classmates, building security and the condominum’s management attempted to dissuade him, before he chose to jump off.

SPO2 Ronald Gallo from Homicide Division of the Manila Police District says that the student fell on an LRT power station, located directly beside the condominium building. “We cannot determine the position of the victim as he fell,” he informs in Filipino.

According to sources close to the student, the student was staying in Manila with classmates for his OJT, was suffering from depression, and was reputed to be worried about his grades because he did not want to repeat. The body of the student in question is now in Saint Rich Funeral Services as authorities continue the investigation of the tragic case.

A similar case happened last 2007, when a student from DLS-CSB, who was residing in the same condominium, also jumped off the building’s top floor and landed on the roof of the same LRT power station. The student was, according to his counselor, suffering from depression as well.
