UAAP: Lady Archers rout UP, improve to 3-0

The DLSU Lady Archers led by as much as 37 points on their way to a 66-31 win over the UP Lady Maroons last July 24 at the Blue Eagle Gym in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City.

Fourth-year forward Alyanna Ong led the charge for La Salle with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two three pointers. Steph Vergara made all four of her field goals to add 10 points in just over 10 minutes of play.

As a team, the Lady Archers made eight three pointers on 44 percent shooting and grabbed 54 rebounds as opposed to 40 for UP. They also moved the ball well, handing out 19 assists–nine more than their opponents.

UP was led by Bea Daez who had six points and five rebounds while Janeena Tatel and Christine Aliermo scored five apiece. The Lady Maroons made just 21 percent of their field goals and made just 18 percent of their three pointers.

The Lady Archers raced out to a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, leading by 16 points at halftime, 35-19. In the second half, the defense of La Salle limited UP to just 12 points and they eventually took home a 66-31 victory.

The bench of the Lady Archers played a key role in the victory as they outscored their counterparts, 33-12. UP was also unable to maximize its possessions, turning the ball over 24 times which led to 12 points off turnovers for DLSU. The Lady Archers had 18 turnovers on their part but did not allow any points off turnovers.

Up next for the undefeated Lady Archers are the UE Lady Warriors who they will face at 1 pm on Sunday, July 27, once at the Blue Eagle Gym.
