After three games since the start of the season, the DLSU Lady Spikers were able to keep a clean 3-0 win-loss record as they defeated the UST TIgresses in a gruelling straight set match, 25-23, 27-25, 25-17, earlier today at The Arena in San Juan City.

Demecillo’s attack went wide to give the Tigresses a one point lead, but she made up for the error in the following play to make the score even at 23. La Salle scored the last two points courtesy of a UST error and an attack by Demecillo to take the first set, 25-23.

Both teams incurred a number of errors at the beginning of the second set which led to a tight match, 5-4. The Tigresses pulled away from DLSU with the help of a block from Jessey De Leon and attacks from Laure and Carmela Tunay, 7-10. The Spikers tried to catch up with the Tigresses but UST kept their lead, 15-20. The Lady Spikers had 7-2 run which tied their scores to 22-all. A close match between the two teams followed that resulted to 25-all. La Salle won the set with back-to-back points from Demecillo’s attacks, 27-25.

At the beginning third set, the Lady Spikers finally got their game together as they took a 7-3 run with the efforts of Mary Joy Baron, Galang, and Reyes. This was followed by errors committed by the Taft-based Spikers to which the Tigresses benefitted from. Midway of the set, the two teams had another close battle because for every attack that DLSU makes, UST always answers back until La Salle pulled away with a 6-2 run. The match ended by a drop shot from Demecillo, 25-17.

Up next for the Lady Spikers are the UP Lady Maroons whom they will face on December 6, 2pm at the San Juan Arena.
