UAAP: LSDC-Street finishes third in street dance competition

The stage was set for the UAAP 77 Streetdance competition as enthusiasts, renowned judges, and supporters had their eyes on the eight teams from the league’s member universities that battled it out at the Mall of Asia Arena last February 8. Hosting the heated event were television personalities Andrei Felix and former courtside reporter Tina Marasigan.

Hailing from the De La Salle University, the La Salle Dance Company (LSDC)-Street had their goal set on improving on their second place finish in 2013. With their nostalgic Backstreet Boys music that had the crowd going, the crew put on a show for the whole arena. LSDC-Street looked to be a promising squad with their flashy stunts, clean performance, and a good ratio of old and modern dances altogether.

DLSU scored a total of 167 points to end their performance. In detail, the team had 18.5 points for showmanship and variety of styles respectively. Unfortunately, DLSU only managed a third place finish as they fell short against Ateneo and UP.

ADMU’s Company of Ateneo Dancers bagged second place with their performance. Their key to success was their overall choreography which gave them an 18.5 score that outweighed every team in the tournament in this area. In terms of difficulty and execution, it was the University of the Philippines Streetdance club that caught the eyes of the judges and the totality of the MoA Arena during their performance.

On a higher note, the LSDC-Street look to improve their chances of winning the championship, working on their areas of improvement as a united team.

Champion: UP – 178.0
1st Runner-up: ADMU – 167.3
2nd Runner-up: DLSU – 167.0
