UAAP: Lady Batters succumb to NU’s late comeback

Last March 4, the DLSU Lady Batters experienced an unexpected 6-5 loss to the NU Lady Bulldogs. With the loss, the Lady Batters now sit on a 6-4 win-loss record for the season.KBP_4480 [1600x1200]

Perseverance

The Lady Batters opened the scoring during the third inning, giving La Salle the first lead of the game. This was followed up by another run in the fourth inning, making things seem favorable to the Green-and-White squad.

The Lady Bulldogs rallied back and registered two runs in by Baby Gequillo and Colleen Alilin, immediately tying the scores to 2-all.

In the sixth inning, NU was able to take control of the game as they brought a batter home.

Putting out all their stops in the last inning, the Lady Batters scored a three runs, courtesy of Badeth Benson, Vanessa Borbon, and Joy Son. Their seemingly imminent victory, however, was short-lived as Lady Bulldogs Alilin and Macapagal slugged the ball, bringing two runs in and tying the scores to 5-5.

The match ended with the score of 6-5 as Lady Bulldog Mia Macapagal stole home when all the bases were loaded.

The Lady Batters will next face the UST Tigresses at 12 nn this coming Saturday, March 7, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
