They say that what you know is only as good as your ability to share it. Layout staffers are in a unique and important position to shape readers’ experience by providing and arranging the visual elements needed to capture the spirit and significance of every story.
Every month, staffers from The LaSallian‘s Layout section do the following:
- Take content created by the other sections and lays them all out for print
- Submit quality assignments on time
- Coordinate with their partners
- Design the readers’ experience of reading the print paper
In order to be able to do this, Layout applicants must:
- Have good time management skills
- Be able to work under pressure
- Be open to suggestions and criticism
- An eye for design
Layout for The LaSallian is made on Adobe InDesign, but applicants need not be experts on the program at all to try out for a spot in the staff! As long as you’re willing to learn, we’d love to teach you how to use the software.
