UAAP: Lady Batters edge ADMU, 2-1, win second straight

In a low-scoring affair, the DLSU Lady Batters held on to defeat the ADMU Lady Eagles, 2-1, in their second round matchup in the UAAP Season 79 Softball Tournament. Jamaica Arribas put in another strong performance on the mound, holding ADMU to only one run scored in seven innings to pace the Lady Batters.

After scoring one run to open the game, the Lady Batters went on a dry spell on offense in the succeeding innings, managing only two hits with ADMU pitcher Nicki Borromeo countering Arribas. It was only in the fifth inning when the Green-and-White would score again, courtesy of an ADMU error off a base hit by Nica Velasco which brought home Alexis Macatangay to push the lead to 2-0.

But the Lady Eagles did not go down without a fight, as they threatened La Salle in the sixth inning with three base hits, highlighted by a run to keep them within striking distance, 2-1. However, Arribas sealed the game in the seventh and final canto, allowing only seven hits throughout the game.

With the win, the Lady Batters won their second consecutive match, as well as securing the fourth seed in the team standings, touting a 4-4 win-loss record.

DLSU will look to continue its winning ways as it will go up against the NU Lady Bulldogs on February 25, Saturday, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Diamond.
