The DLSU Ramon V. Del Rosario College of Business (RVR-COB) was recently recognized by Eduniversal as a recipient of the Three Palmes of Excellence in its 2016 Business Schools Ranking. According to the agency, DLSU RVR-COB was regarded as an “excellent business school with reinforcing international influence.”
On DLSU’s awards
Apart from winning the Three Palmes of Excellence award, there were also several DLSU masters programs recognized under the Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking for the Far East Region. Per specialization and masters program, the top 200 universities were ranked.
The following programs from DLSU were recognized: Masters in Industrial Relations Management (#9), Master in Applied Economics (#29), Master of Marketing Communications (#17), Master of Science in Accountancy (#29), Master of Business Administration – Juris Doctor (#19), and Master in Risk and Insurance Management (#48).
DLSU RVR-COB is the top ranked Philippine University for the Three Palmes of Excellence award among two other awardees, the University of the Philippines Cesar E. Virata College of Business and Ateneo De Manila University Graduate School of Business.
Meanwhile, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) achieved the Four Palmes of Excellence, the highest award in the 2016 Business Schools Rankings. AIM was regarded in the Philippines as the “top business school with significant international influence.”
Other universities who were included in the ranking include the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School and University of San Carlos School of Business and Economics, who were recognized in the Two Palmes of Excellence and One Palme of Excellence awards, respectively.
Eduniversal is a global ranking and rating agency specializing in higher education. It has established strong expertise in evaluating academic institutions and programs in France since 1994, and internationally since 2007. Their two main rankings include “The Best Business Schools in 154 Countries” and “The Best Masters in 30 Fields of Study in 154 Countries.”
How the universities are rated
The Eduniversal International Scientific Committee, which is composed of two executive members within Eduniversal and nine independent experts in higher education, is responsible for the official selection of the best 1,000 business schools. The committee also monitors the Deans’ Voting Process, and oversees the Eduniversal Business Schools Ranking Methodology.
The Eduniversal Evaluation System determines the top 1,000 business schools which will be selected for the ranking. The number of schools selected to take part in the ranking from each of 154 countries is determined according to both quantitative and qualitative criteria.
For the Palmes of Excellence awards, the Eduniversal system rates the schools according to international reputation at national and global levels. After the 1,000 best business schools in 154 countries have been selected, they are divided within each country into five levels of excellence under the Palmes of Excellence.
The five levels include the following: universal business schools with strong global influence, top business schools with significant international influence, excellent business schools with reinforcing international influence, good business schools with strong regional influence, and business schools with considerable local influence.
DLSU has been participating in several world rankings ever since. For instance, another ranking that the University has been actively participating in is the Quacquarelli Symonds World Rankings.
According to a study by the University Research Coordination Office, one of the biggest contributing factors to a university’s academic reputation in the international community is through its research programs. These would usually include research publications, international conferences, and collaborative research studies with foreign universities. As DLSU continues to initiate academic and research programs, the University is expected to participate in more world rankings in the future.

Actually, the highest award CATEGORY is “Five Palmes”. If you go over the different pages in the portal, which includes the description of each award category plus the rankings in other countries, you will see the “Five” category. You may want to edit the sentence above.
