UAAP: Lady Batters continue to struggle, lose to NU, 9-2

In their fourth UAAP Season 80 game, the DLSU Lady Batters succumbed to the NU Lady Bulldogs, 9-2, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Field. With a total of two hits, Jamica Arribas was able to produce a run for the team, while Mercy Arroyo also acquired a hit and one run. Moreover, Dela Torre of NU garnered a total of three hits, two runs, and one RBI for her team in the victory.

The Lady Batters started off struggling on offense as they lacked significant hits to get them on base. This carried on until the third inning, but NU also struggled to muster up any offense off the DLSU pitcher.

As the team from Taft entered the next inning, it started to get its groove back as leadoff batter Arroyo made it to first base via a walk. The starting pitcher, Arribas, soon followed with a hit to right field, getting herself on base as well. Roselle Dela Rosa followed with a sacrifice fly to right field that contributed to their first out, but gave her an RBI in that inning.

With a play to second base, DLSU was able to add to the scoreboard as Arribas reached home on a groundout. On the other hand, Dela Torre of NU added another run to the score, ending the inning in favor of DLSU, 2-1.

Gaining no runs in the succeeding inning, the defense of DLSU struggled as NU scored several runs for their team. With a number of good hits, they were able to gain a huge lead with seven runs all in all. In the sixth inning, the Lady Batters were still unable to hike up their runs, while their competitors concluded the game with another run, allowing them to claim the victory by means of mercy rule, 9-2.

Sa susunod na laban, hopefully ma-icorrect namin yung mga error namin kanina,” said an optimistic Ramos, as she hopes her team starts winning their next few games.

(In our next games, hopefully we can correct the errors we had a while ago.)

Though they suffered yet another loss, they are hopeful for redemption as they face off with the ADMU Lady Eagles this Monday, February 12, at 9 am, at the same venue.
