Redante Tengco, a staff member from the Finance and Accounting Office and recipient of a service award, shared that working in DLSU is not only limited to making a living, but also involves serving the other members of the Lasallian community, a lesson he learned over years of service.

(At first, I saw my job here in La Salle merely as a mean of putting food on the table, but when I got married and had kids and I was still working here, I said to myself, “This must be my mission in life: to be of service to De La Salle University.”)

DLSU Chancellor Br. Bernie Oca FSC, who delivered the closing remarks for the event, shared how he valued time, especially on avoiding tardiness. He further added how crucial it is that one uses time in helping others.

(There are others who are in need of aid, victims of calamities and injustices. As Lasallians, we should focus on giving our time and knowledge in order to help these people.)

Among the notable recipients of the awards this year were Former DLSU Chancellor Dr. Robert Roleda, who has served DLSU for 30 years, while College of Science Dean Glenn Alea, Faculty Association President Dante Leoncini, College of Education Dean Dr. Raymund Sison were recognized for 25 years of service. Vice President for Lasallian Mission Fritzie Ian De Vera was also awarded for 15 years of service.
