LA rep impeached

Consequently, Te  is disallowed from performing all of his duties and responsibilities as an LA representative.

Te incurred a total of five unexcused absences and one unexcused late for the current term in LA sessions held every Wednesday. LA Representatives have to regularly attend these meetings where the representatives discuss student policies and create resolutions.

Under Article IV, Section 1.7 of the USG Code of Conduct, LA Representatives can only incur three unexcused absences for the entire school year. The LA can file an impeachment case against an officer who exceeds the maximum number of absences.

In a letter from Executive Secretary Janine Noblezada, addressed to Chief Magistrate Alexyss Alip, she charged the defendant with gross negligence of duties that is considered grounds for impeachment. The Judiciary then handled the case, and Te was subjected to hearing and trial.

Based on the unanimous decision of the four Magistrates from the College of Education, College of Engineering, Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business, and School of Economics, Te needs to leave his post in the USG.

Acting EXCEL2014 Batch President Carlo Santiago will not appoint any officer to replace Te as many LA Representatives have filed a leave of absence from USG duties due to the General Elections, causing LA sessions to fail to reach quorum. LA sessions can no longer be held, making a replacement unnecessary.

At least two-thirds of the members of the LA constitute a quorum. Without a quorum, LA decisions are not binding.

Other impeachment cases have also been charged against USG officers.

Te is the only officer impeached this academic year.
