Snatcher caught near North Gate

At around 9:25 am, yesterday, a second year DLSU student was about to enter North Gate when a man reached for her necklace from behind and snatched it from her. The guards’ attention was immediately diverted to the theft when the victim screamed for help.

The incident caused a minor interference in traffic, but after a short chase, the suspect was eventually apprehended near the BDO branch across the street. Shortly afterwards, he was brought to the Security and Safety Office (SSO) for questioning and investigation.

Alan Copones, In-House Investigator for the SSO, shares that after bringing the suspect to their office, he was sent to Ospital ng Maynila and then to the Malate Police Station.

The culprit was identified as Victor Meneses, a 22-year-old pedicab driver who is a resident of Tondo, Manila. Copones mentions that he is a member of Sputnik Gang, a prison group, which indicates that the suspect has been in and out of prison.

The SSO’s report in the incident has yet to be finalized.
