Green Spikers succumbs to Bulldogs

The Green Spikers failed to give the NU Bulldogs the latter’s first defeat of the season despite taking a early, 2-0, lead in the match. The five set classic was held last January 27 at the Arena in San Juan.

Christopher Antonio led the Spikers, scoring 19 points while Red Christensen and Philip Cerveza backed up the tight offense with 15 and 11, respectively.

Due to the loss, the Green Spikers now rank fourth in the competition with a 5-5 win loss slate this season.

Perfect beginning

After what it seems like a clean sweep for the Green Spikers, the NU Bulldogs managed to pull a comeback win as the latter overtook the Green-and-White in the last three sets of the matchup. The Bulldogs garnered a 3-2 win to conclude the day.

La Salle drew first blood in the match after winning the first set, 25-21.

The streak continued into the second set as the Green Spikers stood triumphant and pulled a 25-22 victory to secure a 2-0 advantage.

Tragic end

Ending hopes for a perfect run, the NU Bulldogs easily pulled a third set win against the Green Spikers, 18-25.

A deadlock then ensued as a hard fought fourth set slipped away from the Green Spikers, 24-26.

National University delivered the final blow in the fifth set to conclude the match, 5-15.

Redemption

The Green Spikers will be back on the court against the AdU Soaring Falcons this February 2 at the same venue.
