Lady Spikers captures semifinal seat with a win against Adamson

The DLSU Lady Spikers corralled the team’s ninth consecutive win by halting the AdU Lady Falcons’ three-game winning streak with a, 25-19, 25-20, 25-8, victory in just under 69 minutes of play at The Arena in San Juan earlier today.

Through the victory, the Lady Spikers assured the team a semifinal seat.

Three Lady Spikers finished the match with double digits. Victonara Galang, Abby Marano and Mika Reyes chalked 16, 14, and 11 respectively. Adamson’s deadly tandem of Sheila Pineda and Pau Soriano only tallied eight points each for the San Marcelino-based squad.

La Salle established the tempo at the beginning of the match. The Lady Spikers edged Adamson out in the blocking department.

The second set was a different story as the Lady Falcons challenged the defending champion. Neither team led by more than three points in the first 30 points of the set. After entering the second technical timeout with a slim 16-14 advantage, the Lady Spikers rallied to a 9-6 stretch to double the team’s set advantage.

With just a set away from triumph, the ladies in Green-and-White fired from all cylinders. An overwhelming 25-8 domination in the third set sealed the game.

The Lady Spikers will return to The Arena this Sunday to face another dominant team, the FEU Lady Tamaraws.. The game will start at 3:30 pm.
