The DLSU Lady Archers extended their stainless record to 2-0 after slaying the CEU Pink Scorpions with a 63-52 victory in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup held at the Arena in San Juan last May 4.

Trisha Piatos rallied the Lady Archers’ offense, shooting six out of 11 from beyond the arc, ending the bout with a game high 22 points.

Meanwhile, veteran Araciele Abaca earned her second double-double performance this season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Nickie Garcia, on the other hand, consistently supported the pack both offensively and defensively as she earned six points and eight rebounds. A helping hand came in the form of Miller Ong, who dictated the game with seven assists.

DLSU started the match up with a fast paced offense as they doubled the output of CEU, closing the first quarter with a 16-8 point advantage.

The Lady Archers lost their advantage after the Pink Scorpions made a comeback and outscored DLSU by nine, entering the halftime break with a single point leverage of 31-32.

The Taft based squad eventually regained the momentum with a 14-3 run to leave CEU behind with a score of 48-39.

La Salle’s accurate shooting took over in the fourth quarter as the Lady Archers delivered the finishing blow to the Mendiola based team. With victory in their grasp, Coach Tyrone Bautista was consistently exhorting his remaining bench players to seal the game.

Expect more from the Lady Archers as they square off against the NU Lady Bulldogs this coming May 24 at the same venue.
