Even with 14 different sports and 28 distinct teams, there is only one Team La Salle.

As another season of the UAAP opens today, June 29, this year’s Animo Rally was held yesterday at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall Lobby. The annual event is a joint project of the University Student Government’s Office of the Vice President for Internal Affairs (OVPIA) and the Office of Sports Development.

Coming off fresh from clinching the UAAP Season 75 General Championship, all the teams are geared up and are ready to embark on a new season with hopes of once again bringing glory to the University. “[The] players committed to playing extra hard for a back to back general championship,” said Emmanuel Calanog, the OSD Director, who gave the opening remarks.

Hosted by Jem Ausa and Lady Spiker Abby Maraño, the rally opened with a parade of athletes and a performance by the DLSU Drum Line, cheered on by students, faculty, and members of the administration. With a special welcome to each team’s players making their debuts this season, the rookies, by tradition, walked in wearing make-up while suited in colorful costumes.

The rookies of each team kept the crowd alive with performances, dancing and cat walking to a mix of songs including Psy’s Gentleman and the Korean hit Giyomi. The program concluded with the symbolic lighting of the torch by the team captains. UAAP Season 76 opens on June 29 at the Mall of Asia Arena, to be hosted by Adamson University.  Season 76 has the theme, “Greatness Never Ends.”
