PRESS RELEASE: EconOrg’s 13th Young Economists’ Convention – NCR Regional Convention

Good governance is a precondition to economic development. A country may have sound economic policies, steady investment growth, or a thriving investment climate, but without the presence of good governance, the effects of these are unfortunately crippled. Funds that were meant to develop certain industries such as high-budget infrastructure projects are misappropriated as a result of inefficient bureaucracies. According to the World Bank (2001), 20 percent of the country’s annual budget is lost to corruption. One could only imagine the realm of possibilities in the presence of good governance. As young economists, it then becomes our responsibility to be vigilant and sow good governance, so that the future generations may reap a robust industrial economy towards a brighter future.

Thus, the 13th Young Economists’ Convention in partnership with Ateneo de Manila University present this year’s NCR – Young Economists’ Convention entitled ‘Sowing Good Governance for a Robust Industrial Economy’ on November 29, at Leong Hall Auditorium.
