The DLSU Green Batters emerged victorious against the UP Fighting Maroons at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Diamond with a final score of 8-7 last January 19. This sealed the team’s surprising first round sweep of the UAAP 76 Baseball Tournament.

Runs started coming in early, with both teams each tacking on a run in the first inning. However, the Green team’s bats erupted in the second inning, driving in four runs.  La Salle was able to add to their lead with a run in the fourth, the sixth and the eight, while UP scored one in the fourth and another in the fifth.

Things started to look south for the Green-and-White as momentum shifted to the Diliman squad in the ninth inning, pressuring the batters with four runs. Fortunately, La Salle was able to get out of the jam and win it with a close one run lead intact.

Shortstop Francisco Hashimoto lead the team in Runs with four, while Carlos Munoz lead in Runs Batted In (RBI) alongside Basti Uichico, with three apiece. Munoz also lead the team in hits with three. Uichico pitched eight innings of work, striking out four and walking two, while giving up eight hits and seven runs. Munoz pitched the final inning.
