Despite the victory, the team remained in seventh place, just behind the UP Fighting Maroons and today’s opponent.
Four players scored in double digits for La Salle, led by Mike Frey’s 16 markers. John Onia added 15, while Cris Dumago and Aaron Calderon chipped in 13 and 12 points respectively.

It was a nip and tuck affair in the first set with the Taft-based spikers leading by only two, 12-10, midway through. Frey and Brendon Santos then conspired for a 13-5 blast which culminated in a Onia spike, winning the round for DLSU, 25-15.

The Red Warriors turned up the heat in the second set, scoring the first three points. It was an exchange of scores the rest of the way between the two squads. The Recto-based team prevailed eventually, 25-22, behind the efforts of Sidny Molina Jr. and substitute Noel Alba.
The third was also a close battle between the two teams. With the score at 19-18, Cris Dumago caught fire and scored at will against the UE defense, leading to 6-1 run that gave the Green and White the set and a 2-1 advantage.

The fourth set was a bit different, with DLSU leading all the way through. Aaron Calderon spearheaded the Green Spikers’ attack, with help from Ralph Calasin and Onia. UE tried to extend the game, decreasing La Salle’s six point advantage down to two, 24-22. However, Cris Dumago was able to finish the match with a spike.

UE’s Edward Campusano finished with a game high 22 points, while Molina added 14 in yet another loss for the Red Warriors.

The scores:

DLSU- Frey 16, Onia 15, Dumago 13, Calderon 12, Calasin 7, Santos 4, Asia 0, Christensen 0, Dimayuga 0.
