UAAP: Lady Batters trounce UST in season opener

In their first match of the year, the DLSU Lady Batters defeated the UST Tigresses last Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, 7-3. La Salle now holds a 1-0 win-loss record this season.

After an uneventful first inning with no scores for both teams, things started to pick up their pace as Palma batted a home run, giving UST the first point of the game. Another run was scored for UST with the efforts of Garde, Roa, and Areglado. However, La Salle bounced back from their little mishap in the first half of the inning by bagging a total of three runs from Arribas,
Belarmino, and Ramos, ending it with the scores of 3-2, in favor of DLSU.

DLSU kept hold of their momentum as they prevented their opponents from scoring in the third inning while getting a couple of runs for themselves, 5-2, further widening their gap with UST.

The Tigresses tried to catch up with DLSU in the fourth inning as they secured a point but the Lady Batters answered back with a run of their own. DLSU kept UST’s score at a standstill in the next two innings and a half, ending the match with a last minute run by Son, 7-3.

With their first win of the season already secured, the DLSU Lady Batters will face the UP Lady Maroons this coming Wednesday, January 28, at 1pm in the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
