Outstanding CAO groups, members recognized in Gawad Cultura 2018

Outstanding groups and members under the Culture and Arts Office (CAO) of Academic Year 2017-2018 were recognized for their exemplary performance at Gawad Cultura 2018 held last March 29, 2019 at The Verdure, fourth floor of Henry Sy Sr. Hall.

Those who excelled in the field of arts, spanning music, dance, theater management, and film production were medalled during the ceremony.

‘The world is colorful because of art’

“Makulay ang mundo dahil sa sining,” Issay Nodalo, La Salle Dance Company-Contemporary (LSDC) alumna, expressed as she recognized the talents and struggles of student-artists through her keynote speech.

(The world is colorful because of art.)

Nodalo added that she strongly believed in each individual’s capability of establishing and developing arts not just in the University, but also in the country.

Elaine Aranda, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, expressed in her opening remarks that the ceremony also focuses on strengthening Lasallian talent. “Ang pagpapatunay na ang Lasalyano ay tapat sa pagbabahagi ng sarili, sa paglilingkod, sa pakikiisa sa misyon, na manghikayat ng pagbabago tungo sa pag-unlad ng nakakarami,” she shared.

(This proves that Lasallians are truly committed to sharing one’s self through service, communion in mission, and betterment for the common good).

Winners were split among three major categories: group awards, individual awards, and special awards. Gawad Kalinganan and Gawad Maliw winner, Daniel Rafael Banta, encouraged his fellow CAO members to continually give their best when it comes to performing, but reminded the audience that as students, they must continually prioritize their studies as compared to their extra-curricular activities.
