PRESS RELEASE: DULA SALLE 2K19—BOGUS POKUS—SHIFTING FOCUS TO PRESSING ISSUES


DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild, the premier theatre organization of De La Salle University, is proud to present “DuLa Salle 2k19: Bogus Pokus”, in collaboration with Malate Literary Folio, the official literary and visual arts publication of the university. Performances will run at the William Shaw Little Theater, De La Salle University – Manila Campus from March 18 – 20, 2020 and at the Milagros R. Del Rosario Auditorium – Laguna Campus from March 31 – April 2, 2020.

Each of the seven plays was originally written as short stories by the members and alumni of Malate Literary Folio, adapted and directed by DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild’s members.

“Ang Burol ni Jenny sa Kalye ng Ipil-Ipil” by Gabrielle Galang, adapted by Gray Jacinto and Gale Corpuz, directed by Euvher Villadolid; “Ang Halimaw ng Santa Catalina” ni Guion Marciano, adapted by Dara Gianan and Rangel Pangilinan, directed by Juan Castillo; “Kinulang sa Tamis” by Leann Padilla, adapted by Paula Serrano and Jairus Anog, directed by Grey Erica; “Five Minutes” by Abigail Batan, adapted by Mary Salceda and Reina Tejada, directed by Regine Santos – all to be performed in Manila Campus.

“Ang Bagong Barbie” ni Cathleen Jade Madrid, adapted by Nina Dominique Lim and Angeli Era, directed by Hannah Papa; “Maiba Taya” ni Leanne Padilla, adapted by John Rhoderick Campo and Christian Mercado, directed by Jed HIlomen; and “Noe and the Bee” ni Jared Rivera, adapted by Niko Custodio and Regine Encarnacion, directed by Iris Libay – all to be staged in Laguna Campus.

“DuLa Salle 2k19: Bogus Pokus” revolves around the stories of a group trying to uncover the death of their friend, a 15-year-old boy fearing for the safety of him and his family, a freshman struggling with being away from home, two sisters trying to rebuild the walls broken down by their past, a little girl who loses her friend as a woman loses her job, a little girl who desperately wants to change how she looks, and a teenage girl who struggles with overcoming her grief. The production serves as a reminder to always keep an open eye despite the struggle of a circumstance.
