PRESS RELEASE: Civil Engineering Society presents ‘Catalyzing Change with CES: Your Vote Matters’

You might have heard the phrase “Your Vote Matters” whenever the election season arises, but what does it really mean? These three words emphasize the magnitude of one’s voting rights in achieving a better tomorrow for future generations.

Amidst this era of economic decline, health crisis and misinformation, now more than ever, the impact of a knowledgeable and well-informed voter plays a pivotal role in choosing a responsible, qualified, accountable public servant for the country. This term, the Civil Engineering Society (CES) presents “Catalyzing Change with CES: Your Vote Matters”, a one-day advocacy webinar that focuses on the youth’s role in leadership and civic engagement in the upcoming 2022 elections. The event aims to pioneer more socially aware Lasallian students and mobilize them to be the catalysts of change in the Philippines.

Five CES officers, Kyle Coo, Eugene Morales, Patricia Hong, Lance Santiago, and Jedelle Falcon, spearheaded the event from paper to live.

“I’ve always valued the importance of being vocal and informed about national issues since I believe it’s each citizen’s social responsibility to educate themselves on what’s happening in the country. So, I am glad I was able to help in organizing an event that could guide others, specifically the youth, on how to exercise their right to vote. It’s so crucial that my generations care about national politics to know the necessary steps and reforms we need to take in to learn from and avoid recreating the mistakes of the past,” Patricia Hong, CES core officer and project head said, sharing her insights on the significance of the youth’s impact on voting.

Catalyzing Change with CES: Your Vote Matters features talk from two highly respected and successful individuals in their fields, Representative Sarah Jane Elago and Professor Yasmira Moner. The online event will be held on the 4th of December 2021 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Grab this opportunity to educate yourselves in the basics and role of youth in voting.
