PRESS RELEASE: The 2nd International Studies Convention is Back! Get to know the world through the eyes of their youth.

THROUGH THE EYES OF THE YOUTH,  the world is their oyster and they are free to achieve anything they want. The possibilities of growth are endless, whether one is  just starting out or are at the end of one’s college years.

This 6th to 18th of June 2022, the European Studies Association (ESA), co-presented by the Organization for American Studies (AMSTUD), made possible by the Political Science Society (POLISCY), and in partnership with Nihon Kenkyuu Kai (NKK), the La Salle Debate Society, and the FEU International Studies Society, brings students to a world of culture, advocacy, opportunity, and knowledge in international relations through the events of the 2nd International Studies Convention (2ISCON).

To kickstart the 2-week long convention, KulTOURa: Connecting the World Through Cultural Diplomacy to be held on June 10, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm will showcase how cultural diplomacy is utilized in the Asia Pacific Region. The event will feature speakers  from the Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy under the Department of Foreign Affairs and experts on Cultural Diplomacy.

The second event, Your Voice: Young Changemakers in Society on June 11, 2022 at 2:00pm to 4:00pm will introduce participants to various organizations that will foster one’s drive to work  for an advocacy or cause. Speakers of the program will come from  the World Youth Alliance and the  Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines, two well-known organizations that advocate for the intrinsic value of human dignity and environmental protection, respectively.

The third event, Take a Chance: Your First Step in the Real World, will be held on June 17, 2022 from 3:00 – 5:30 pm. This event will serve as an introduction to opportunities that will help participants jumpstart their careers. The speakers of the event will include  Ms. Gigi de Leon  from the  the European Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Camille Conde, the Press Ataché of the Embassy of France in the Philippines,  Ms. Claudia Montero from the International Council on Monuments and Sites, and lastly Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand, Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa & Tonga Gary Domingo, founder of the Diplomatic League under the DFA.

Last but not the least is the event The Journey of Refugees: Through Nations and Waves which will be held on June 18, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. This final event will be a panel discussion that will highlight World Refugee Day through in-depth discussions on the responsibilities of the international community to asylum-seekers and refugees, the impacts of refugees on host communities, and the Ukrainian Refugee Crisis and its global implications. The panel will be composed of experts and researchers on refugee rights and migration studies.
