Modern Filipinos exemplifying Lasallian values honored at 2023 Lasallian Excellence Awards

After two years, the Lasallian Excellence Awards returns to recognize the service of the members and organizations under the Council of Student Organizations.

The connection of the Filipino experience with the Lasallian core values of faith, service, and communion was highlighted in the 2023 Lasallian Excellence Awards (LEA), hosted by the Council of Student Organizations (CSO) at the Natividad Fajardo-Rosario Gonzalez Auditorium last October 25 with the theme “Modern Filipino.”

LEA is CSO’s annual awards ceremony that seeks to recognize “outstanding individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional talent, professionalism, and dedication in their respective fields, whether academics, career, or service.”

CSO Executive Vice Chairperson for Externals Benhur Paclibon opened the program, saying that the event is a celebration of the service and accomplishments of the CSO organizations during the 47th and 48th years of the CSO. Jaeyanne Chan, project head for the event, added in her speech that the theme was selected to reflect how the “Lasallian mission was seen in the Filipino’s experience following the pandemic.”

The activity was also graced with performances from various Lasallian arts groups.

Over 20 awards across six categories, namely Officership, Organization, Faculty, Activity, Service, and Co-Ed, were given to various officers and members of organizations under the CSO. The Industrial Management Engineering Society (IMES) bagged a majority of the awards, including the Outstanding Organization Award in the Big Organizations category. Joining IMES in the list of Outstanding Organization Award winners are The Organization for American Studies, Archers for UNICEF, Development Initiative, and ENGLICOM.
