MANILA CITY – What if the next breakthrough solution to a real-world problem came from a group of college students? Technology has become the new norm, and it is one of the strongest driving forces of innovation. The world has evolved to use one form of technology or another, greatly allowing for more convenience and efficiency. With technology becoming more accessible than ever, students now have the opportunity to turn creativity into impact. Their creativity needs a platform where ideas can be transformed into solutions, and Hackercup 2026 provides exactly that.
Hackercup 2026 is a 2-day hackathon event hosted by La Salle Computer Society (LSCS) at De La Salle University – Manila Campus. The hackathon challenges student developers to apply their technical knowledge and creativity in building meaningful software solutions centered on convenience and sustainability. Hackercup is De La Salle’s first and only award-winning hackathon, proudly showcasing the institution’s commitment to innovation and excellence. The nationwide event invites universities from across the Philippines, fostering collaboration and creativity among the country’s brightest student innovators. Registration is open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled in any Philippine university or college. Participants must register as teams of 4-5 members, ensuring each member has defined roles and responsibilities to streamline ideation and creation. For this year, the event will be held on July 10-11, 2026.

The hackathon features three distinct workshops, starting with Make It Matter: Creating an Impact explores how innovation and development can align with and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. This workshop serves as a guide to the participants on how to design solutions that are centered around the needs of its target users. Next, Make It Make Sense: Turning Problems into Opportunities is a problem analysis workshop that focuses on enhancing communication and identification skills. Participants are encouraged to create solutions that will generate real impact on the present problem. Lastly, Make It Exist: Building Your Idea introduces the concept of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and teaches participants how to transform ideas into functional prototypes with basic UI/UX design principles.
Throughout the two-day event, teams will work closely with their members to transform ideas into functioning solutions. Each group begins by attending the workshops and transitioning to the ideation and implementation of their projects. The program flow is designed to mimic real-world innovation, where collaboration, adaptability, and perseverance are just as important as technical expertise.
Hackathons are more than just coding competitions. They are opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and grow. Hackercup combines creativity, problem-solving, and programming to develop solutions with real-world impact. Through the event, participants will be able to build a socially impactful, functional software application program, learn relevant skills in technology and project management, connect with others, and gain experience with fellow student developers.
The event provides an avenue to showcase talents in technology, creativity, and innovation. While all teams will be acknowledged for their participation and creations, the top three teams will receive cash prizes of PHP 20,000.00, PHP 10,000.00, and PHP 5,000.00, respectively.
Participant registration is open until June 26, with a registration fee of PHP 250.00 per member. More information is available on the event Facebook Page – DLSU Hackercup.
As technology continues to shape the future, events such as Hackercup 2026 demonstrate the growing role students play in driving innovation. Whether participants leave with a winning project, new skills, or lasting connections, the experience serves as a reminder that meaningful change can begin with a simple idea.
