PRESS RELEASE: Ley La Salle to Hold Business Law Conference 2026 on Consumer Protection in the Modern Marketplace

For years, the Business Law Conference has served as one of Ley La Salle’s flagship academic events, bringing together students and legal professionals to discuss issues that shape the business and legal landscape. Organized annually, the conference provides a venue for participants to engage with experts from government, academia, and the private sector while exploring topics that extend beyond classroom discussions. Through initiatives like the Business Law Conference, Ley La Salle continues to promote legal awareness, academic excellence, and professional development among aspiring legal practitioners.

Ley La Salle will hold the Business Law Conference 2026: Consumer Protection in the Modern Marketplace on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, at the Natividad Fajardo-Rosario Gonzalez Auditorium, 18th Floor, Brother Andrew Gonzalez Hall, De La Salle University-Manila. This year’s conference will focus on how consumer protection laws continue to evolve alongside developments in technology, digital commerce, and modern business practices.

The conference will feature discussions organized around four key pillars. Consumer Welfare in Evolving Markets will examine consumer rights, fair trade practices, transparency, and deceptive advertising. Accountability in the Age of Influence and Digitalization will focus on ethical online practices and the responsibilities of businesses, influencers, and digital platforms. Regulation, Governance, and Public Interest will discuss the role of laws and government institutions in balancing innovation with consumer welfare. Meanwhile, Social Responsibility and Responsible Leadership will explore how businesses can promote sustainability, ethical leadership, and accountability in serving their stakeholders. Together, these discussions aim to provide participants with a broader understanding of the legal issues surrounding today’s marketplace.

The conference theme reflects issues that have become increasingly relevant as more transactions move online and businesses continue to adopt new technologies. Concerns surrounding misleading advertisements, digital platforms, consumer data, and corporate accountability have highlighted the need for stronger consumer protection and ethical business practices. By examining these developments through legal and business perspectives, the conference hopes to encourage meaningful discussions on the role of law in protecting consumers while supporting innovation and economic growth.

This year’s conference will feature speakers from government, the private sector, and academia. Among them are Atty. Amanda Marie F. Nograles, Partner at Nograles Law Offices and former Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry; Atty. Eunice Monsod, Group Chief Compliance Officer of Salmon Group and Chairperson of Salmon Bank; Atty. Edwin Maurice M. Calanog, Senior Partner at Migriño, Calanog & Dacanay Law Offices and faculty member at De La Salle University; and Atty. Ann Claire C. Cabochan, Deputy Director General for Operations of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. Their combined experience in consumer protection, compliance, trade regulation, corporate law, and intellectual property is expected to provide participants with practical perspectives on the conference theme.

The Business Law Conference 2026 is open to students who are interested in consumer protection, business law, governance, and related legal issues. Through discussions led by experienced practitioners and public officials, participants will have the opportunity to gain insights into current developments affecting consumers and businesses in the Philippines.
