Facing battles would never be the same without a bunch of people screaming and showing support. In all the games I have watched, support has turned double-digit disadvantages with just a few minutes left in the game into victories sports leagues and spectators would remember for years and even decades after. Lasallians, in my view, […]
This coming November 24, Pope Benedict XVI will be appointing six new members to the Catholic Church’s College of Cardinals. What brought on mass exultation among the Filipino faithful is the inclusion of beloved Manila Archbishop and Primate of the Philippines, Luis Antonio “Chito” Tagle, in the list. Tagle’s cardinalhood has once again stirred Vatican […]
A couple of weeks ago, I heard that only one student had filed a case against a professor for missing class and a few alleged grading issues last term. Apparently, the student’s grade was corrected, but in a surprising upturn of events, the student pushed through with the case. An average student would normally say, […]
On August 3, 2012, Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III delivered a privilege speech against Senate Bill 2865 otherwise known as the Reproductive Health Bill. He managed to woo the public, including his harshest critics, after talking about an abortion his wife had due to contraceptive pills. Two days after, an allegation was made […]
By Julio C. Teehankee Close to two and a half decades ago, I had the special privilege of serving as one of the editors of the bastion of issue-oriented critical thinking and the official student publication of De La Salle University – The LaSallian. By Isabelle Yujuico School-home-school-home. That was the humdrum of my elementary and high school years except perhaps for the last two years. My parents did not promote after school activities. Come college, I was determined to do a 180. As an overenthusiastic freshman, I joined six organizations, but it was only The LaSallian (TLS) that […]
By Philip Ella Juico I spent all my student life, except for the two years at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) where I obtained my Master of Business Management (MBM), now known as Master of Business Administration (MBA), in 1973, and a great part of my career as an education manager and academician at […]
For one thing, Republic Act 10175 has been everything, but entertaining. The careless writing has rendered some, if not most, of its provisions ambiguous. Protests have been made online and offline in the midst of petitions filed for the amendment of the act. Personally, I am against RA 10175. The provisions regarding libel, the takedown […]
We from The LaSallian did not release an official stand on House Bill no. 4244, otherwise known as the Responsible Parenthood Bill, despite numerous requests and pressure from a majority of our own members, as well as various University stakeholders. This is because we respected, and we continue to respect, every person’s right to have […]
Sports which are not played in the Philippines’ top collegiate association, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines UAAP, are often unseen and taken for granted. For a long time, DLSU has several sports clubs in this category. And though some may think that these unheard of clubs are weak simply because few people […]
