The Green Tankers started the season by giving DLSU its first championship crown in the UAAP Season 74 Swimming Meet last September.
The Green-and-White Tankers out swam the UST Tigersharks and the Ateneo Blue Tankers on the rally towards the top spot.
The Tankers eyed the prize, delivered, and did not disappoint.
One tanker exceeded expectations, breaking records and even a win that DLSU witnessed two years ago by an all too familiar Ernest Lorenzo “Enchong” Dee.
Green Tanker Johansen Aguilar finished all his events on a high note, making him a vital part of the Tankers’ triumph, and earning him the rightful title as the season’s Most Valuable Player.
Aguilar topped the 50, 100, 200 meters backstroke, 50, 100, 200 meters butterfly, and 200 meters individual medley accumulating 63 points for the over-all team tally as well.
On top of that, he also broke the UAAP 50 and 100-meter backstroke records, and set a Philippine Record for 50-meter backstroke.
As part of the National Swimming Team, Aguilar also represented the country in the international arena, the most recent being the Southeast Asian Games, where he set another national record.
With Aguilar only on his third season, the Green Tankers will cont sinue to dominate the sport in the following seasons as they prove that they are the lords of the deep.
