In a letter addressed to the Lasallian community in the Philippines, Br. Dodo Fernandez FSC announced the appointment of Br. Jose Mari Jimenez FSC as the new president of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP).
“With the appointment of Br. Ricky Laguda FSC as President of DLSU and following a consultation process, I wish to announce the appointment of Br. Jose Mari Jimenez FSC as Sector Leader of the Philippines effective 17 June 2012 and ending on 14 May 2015,” disclosed Br. Dodo.
The selection is made amid the appointment of Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC as president of De La Salle University.
Br. Dodo expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Br. Ricky for his short term as the DLSP President. “Despite the short time, he has been able to move forward critical areas in De La Salle Philippines that needed to be developed and strengthened,” he says.
“The sector of the Philippines, under his leadership has been fully supportive, in ways big and small, of the development of our new District,” Br. Dodo furthers.
Last March 21, a Convention of Leaders (COLE) emergency meeting was held at the Waldo Perfecto Seminar Room to discuss the selection of the next Brother President among other agendas. Br. Ricky’s official appointment came as a result of a Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting set to endorse a new president of DLSU amid the decision of current DLSU President and Chancellor, Br. Jun Erguiza FSC, to discontinue his term.
Br. Ricky’s strong management background is one of the reasons for his appointment.
The BOT also recommended that the President selected should not occupy the Chancellor position.
