Coming from morale-boosting preseason victories, the DLSU men’s and women’s football teams will start their collegiate championship bids as the UAAP football tournament commences at the Ateneo football fields today.
The Green Booters will be making a return to Loyola Heights after winning the IPPCA championship last week at the expense of the FEU Tamaraw Booters. Coincidentally, the Taft-based XI will meet the lads from Morayta for the second time in eight days.
In a league format, a match can only last for 90 minutes, and there will be no extensions after the match, even if it ends tied.
Meanwhile, the WSL Cup champion Lady Booters will aim to extend its dominance into the UAAP. The team will tangle with the FEU women’s XI that finished third in the preseason tournament; the Lady Booters won the championship.
The last time the two team met was in the WSL. The two teams shared the spoils for an entertaining 2-2 draw—the only game the Lady Booters failed to win in the preseason competition.
