Last June 15, during the closing celebration of DLSU’s centenary, many expected that the Henry Sy, Sr. Hall would finally be opened to the Lasallian community. To everyone’s surprise, only the inauguration of the building took place. The target opening was moved to December.
In an interview with The LaSallian several months ago, former DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Jun Erguiza FSC explained that the Henry Sy Sr. Hall would be completed last year. Construction delays was confirmed when the former president announced that the building would be completed this month.
DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Ricky Laguda FSC explains that the aforementioned building was never meant to be opened on June 15. He furthers that the timeframe for the building’s construction is 18 months. Hence, the Centennial Hall should be fully operational and open to the students on January 2013.
Students have, however, access to the first four floors of the building since the University launched the DLSU Innovation and Technology fair last November 27. The grounds of the Henry Sy, Sr. Hall has also been opened to students.
So far, the University Registrar, and several central administration offices from the Yuchengco building, which include the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration have been transferred to the Henry Sy Sr. Hall.
One security personnel explains that the offices are being transferred to the new building for security purposes. Once the building is fully operational, visitors that have business with these offices would only be allowed to enter the building; consequently, visitors would not have access to the entire University.
Disruptions
Br. Ricky assures students that the transfer will only cause minimal disruptions to the concerned offices. The Office of the University Registrar, SFA and the Admissions office are already operating on the second floor. As of press time, no announcements regarding the transfer of the Accounting Office to the new building have been made.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Administration Agnes Yuhico and Associate Vice Chancellor Engr. Aurellano de la Cruz, Jr. have yet to respond for an interview.

Why are there no pictures of the bay? Is the view not picturesque?
Is the view unimpressive?* (can’t find “edit” – nice website…)
The photographers were not allowed to roam around the entire roof deck for safety reasons and to not hinder the construction works. They’ll be able to take better perspectives once the structure is finished. Thanks!
oh ok! thanks
