DLSU blesses Henry Sy Sr. Hall offices

“I hope that these two spaces [Chapel of the Most Blessed Sacrament (MBS) and the Henry Sy Sr. Hall (HSSH)] will continue to make us more learner centered, to transform society and to make sure that we will love and live the vision.”- DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Ricky Laguda FSC.

Henry Sy Sr. Hall offices were blessed after a thanksgiving mass earlier today.Members of the academe, students and administrators attended the mass at the HSSH grounds.

In his statement after the mass, Br. Ricky recalls, “The new facility was conceptualized as a habitable tree. It was Br. Armin [Luistro FSC] who planted the seed. Br. Jun nurtured it, and we now benefiting from the fruits.”

The new building will house administration offices, which include offices of the top administrators. A part of the building called the Learning Commons will accommodate student activities.

Before he ended, Br. Ricky thanked the Sy family and expressed hope that the Learning Commons would become a repository for knowledge.

In a survey conducted by The LaSallian on the building, most students expressed interest in exploring the building. Some, however, raised a concern that the new building would not lessen congestion in the University since administrative offices will occupy several floors in the building.

Br. Ricky, however, clarifies in a separate interview with The LaSallian that students would have access to at least 20 new classrooms next school year.
