Last March 26, IDs of students who took the Institutional Testing and Evaluation Office (ITEO) exam last month started beeping instead of those that belonged to students who have not taken the exam.
A College of Liberal Arts (CLA) student explains, “I took the ITEO test last time, but when my ID started beeping, I got confused. I wondered if something was wrong.”
In an interview with The LaSallian last month, ITEO Director Violeta C. Valladolid explains that the exam was conceptualized and standardized last 2007 in accordance with transformative learning. The test was also added to the curriculum and implemented in 2008. It was designed to be taken by students during the third term of every academic year.
As a policy, IDs of students who have not taken the test will continue to beep as a reminder for students to take the exam on the scheduled dates.
Confusion
Valladolid explains that the incident, which occurred in the morning, was eventually resolved in the afternoon.
She adds, “The list of students who have not yet taken the ITEO test is sent to the Information Technology Services (ITS) office for tagging of their IDs, so that they will be reminded to take the test by beeping of the IDs. However, instead of tagging the students who have not taken the test, students who took the test were tagged, creating confusion.”
IDs of students who took the test no longer beeped in the afternoon.
