Enchong Dee: Diving under the limelight

When it comes to the waves of UAAP swimming, this former Green Tanker would always be the topic of conversation.

Lorenzo “Enchong” Dee was one of the main guns of the DLSU Green Tankers during his swimming career, which spanned from 2007 to 2010. During his UAAP stint, the Naga Hope Christian High School alumnus ended La Salle’s six-year title drought by winning the championship against the Ateneo Blue Tankers back in Season 72.

An unparalleled achiever

Dee also set one of the most impressive feats during his tenure in the UAAP as he reaped seven gold medals after notching victories in the 500-m and 800-m freestyle, 400-m and 200-m individual medley, 200-m, 100-m and 50-m butterfly events.

His skill did not go unnoticed as he was also part of the Philippine National Team. He represented the country in the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar and the 2007 Southeast Asian Games held at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Out of the water, he also served as one of the Google Student Ambassadors for the country during his college years.

A budding celebrity

After taking his last strides as La Salle’s premier swimmer, Dee is now one of the most recognized young celebrities in the Philippine show business industry today.

The former swimming standout also made television appearances and was part of the main cast of Katorse, which was an adaptation of the famous 1968 film, in 2009. He was also a main actor in films such as Tanging Yaman, Sa‘yo Lamang, and The Reunion.

Nowadays, Dee still continues with his showbiz career and is one of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic group of contract artists.

Phenomenal athletes may come and go, but La Salle is proud to say that it witnessed the one and only Enchong Dee who made a big splash in the UAAP and continues to make waves under the bright lights of showbiz.
