DLSU officially recognizes the 15th batch of Star Scholars today at the 4th floor Mulitpurpose Hall of the Henry Sy Sr. Hall, welcoming the 9 ‘best and brightest’ students who topped last year’s DLSU College Admission Test (CAT). Administrators, distinguished faculty, as well as past batches of Star Scholars and notable alumni of the program were in attendance of the event.
A dinner was first held before the start of the program. DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Ricky Laguda greeted the scholars, stressing their achievement of being part of the top 100 of 23,000 applicants, and making the cut of being part of the scholarship program. He furthers how they are ‘made to be more’ by embodying the Lasallian core values of Faith, Service, and Communion, and hopes that they continue to set a good example for others.
The recent graduates of the program were first recognized for excellence in their respective fields, followed by the new batch who was awarded the latest version of the iPad, which is part of the scholarship benefits. The respective high schools of the new Star Scholars were also given recognition for having produced graduates who qualified for the program.
Pamela Yu (I, AEI-BSA) spoke on behalf of the new batch of the Star Scholars, sharing how her being a Star Scholar is unexpected, but adds that she is grateful for having the privilege of being part of the scholarship. She stresses how it is important to continue pursuing for excellence, citing that it is a habit and not just an act.
