Two female Department of Labor and Employment employees encountered a road accident earlier today along Leon Guinto Street, Malate, Manila, leaving one of them dead and the other injured.
PNP investigators said that the injured victim had already been rushed to the Philippine General Hospital for treatment.
The said employees were on a lunch break when the accident occurred. The suspect was identified to be Jujie De Vera, a kagawad of Brgy. 725 Zone 079. De Vera claims to have been stricken by hypertensive attack while parking the car, rendering him unconscious. Because of this, he says, he accidentally stepped on the accelerator while the car was set on reverse causing it to hit the two pedestrians.
According to him, the car is purportedly owned by a Lasallian student, who as of press time has not yet been informed of the incident. The accident also damaged the rear part of a car parked nearby.
