After three games of neck and neck battles against the ADMU Lady Eagles, the DLSU Lady Spikers have found an opponent worthy enough to be labeled not just as a hindrance but a legitimate threat to the elusive UAAP Season 76 Women’s Volleyball championship.
After three games of breathtaking sets, both squads have proven that they are equally matched.
After three games of thrilling rivalry in the UAAP finals, the this Saturday’s match can end with Ateneo’s first ever UAAP championship or La Salle’s record fourth consecutive title. Either way, this game will be one for the books.
Ateneo taking Game One of the finals was a major surprise to DLSU head coach Ramil de Jesus and his squad. La Salle fans everywhere were shocked as the Lady Eagles, who have not won single game against La Salle this season, prevailed in four sets after losing the first. The loss was a statement from ADMU that La Salle would not easily win the crown this season.
Rust was a major cause for DLSU’s first loss of the season, but apart from that, La Salle’s Game Three setback and their close win in Game Two are a cause for concern. Late game collapses are starting to affect the Lady Spikers’ performance. La Salle has always managed to stay afloat during the middle of the set, but the Lady Spikers break down during the homestretch, as evidently in the last two games.
It all comes down to this, a do-or die game to decide the champion of UAAP Season 76. Game Four will be on March 15, Saturday, at 4 pm in the Mall of Asia Arena. Three games are long enough to know your opponents like the back of your hand, so the team that plays smarter will come out on top.
The pressure is on every player right now as everyone needs to step up. Will La Salle achieve the historic 4-peat? Will Ateneo bring home the crown for the first time since joining the UAAP? Only one thing is certain though, this game will go down in history for one reason or another.
