PRESS RELEASE: SiKuna Festival

MAKATI CITY, Philippines—Para sa Sining will hold SiKuna, a collaborative arts festival, on August 1, 2015 at the Century City Mall Events Center in Makati City.

As the organization ushers a new season—as well as to grace this year’s Buwan ng Wika (National Language Month)—The SiKuna Festival is a whole-day affair where everyone will witness the remarkable gathering of seven art forms: architecture, dance, film, literature, music, theater and visual arts. The event will also serve as the cradle for the birth of new contemporary art forms and the emergence of new artists as well as to preserve the renowned genres.

Also taking part in this event will be sets of exhibits where the artists and art enthusiasts can collaborate with each other, such as the interactive performances in the afternoon and an open jam in the evening. It will include artists such as Drum Start, Sularaya SSCHS Dance Troupe, Globaltronics, Rebelde Film Campers 2015, SiKuna String Quartet, Sofia Paderes, Norvin Delos Santos, Bob & Noah, Kris Samonte, Saree Gloria, Hertiage Conservation Society Youth, BennyBunnyBand, Art Attack, Matchsticks, AJKA, DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild, Cheska Quimno, GJ & Jaimie Balingcos, The Benjamins, Inkantada, The Dreamweaver Ronald Renato Production, Gio Manlangit, Upeepz, Toym Imao, Dayaw, and Ang Bandang Shirley.

In addition, the festivity will be raising funds for the upcoming projects of the organization.

The SiKuna Festival will be held starting 1:30 PM onwards at the Century City Mall Events Center in Kalayaan Avenue, Poblacion, Makati City. Tickets are available at the venue for only 300 pesos.

About Para sa Sining

Para sa Sining is an organization which aims to exhibit the Philippines’ enriching works in arts and culture and share it with other Filipinos here and around the world. PSS established projects which envision their objectives such as Katha and Hiraya. Hiraya is an arts education and cultural exchange program in rural communities. Katha is a bi-monthly production that gathers artists and enthusiasts, allowing them to share and experience art through collaborations and conversations.

Since its inception in August 2014, Para Sa Sining already produced four programs which showcased collaboration in various art forms, namely: Katha Musika X Pelikula (25 October 2014), Katha Musika X Sining-Biswal (18 December 2014), Katha Teatro X Sayaw (20 February 2015), and Katha Tula X Sayaw (16 May 2015).

Aside from producing Katha, Para Sa Sining also joined civic groups in slating cultural exchange and arts education programs. They took part of the Pasinaya, a multi-arts festival produced by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP); and recently, they took part of the Brigada Eskwela program by the Department of Education (DepEd) held at Mt. Pulag, Benguet.
