DLSU Outdoor Club is inviting the Lasallian community to take part in a donation drive entitled ‘Doing our PART: A Donation Drive For Our Fur-iends’ which is in assistance of the Paws and Claws Animal Sanctuary in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan. In a weeklong booth at SJ Bench 11, from November 6 to 10, the organization will be receiving donations in the form of old towels, old newspapers, cleaning materials (walis tingting, bleach, multipurpose soap), and cash, which shall be used to buy dog food, cat food, and medicine.
The Philippine Animal Rescue Team is the organization behind the establishment and maintenance of the shelter, which is currently home to around 400 animals, including at least 150 cats, 100 dogs, and some turtles, chickens, turkeys, and goats. The residents, who are fed, bathed, and cared for by the shelter staff (and sometimes volunteering visitors), are also free to play in the space of 10 acres.
The Lasallian community is also invited to experience the morning shift at Paws and Claws Animal Sanctuary, from 8am to 12nn, on November 25, 2017, as volunteers for the various jobs done at the shelter, which include feeding, grooming, cleaning of kennels and cattery, doing dishes, and laundry. Interacting with the animals is also on the schedule, of course! To join, simply sign up the booth and await more details via text.
During the week of deployment, an hour-long orientation will be delivered to prepare all volunteers. A fee will be collected for transportation costs, dependent on the number of participants. Are you excited yet? It will be a PETmalu visit! See you!
