Ley La Salle, the premier organization of aspiring lawyers and Legal Management students cordially invites university stakeholders to the annual Business Law Conference which will be held on March 30, 2019. The theme for this year’s event is “Nation Building Through Business & Human Rights”, wherein reputable speakers will be imparting their expertise and advocacies in terms of business and legal matters to inspire students to be socially aware and responsible citizens – a call to future lawyers and business leaders of our nation. In our modern society, the common notion of human rights is constrained within the bounds of extra-judicial killings (EJKs) and the perceived essence of business concerns is limited to profitability in the corporate setting. The interrelatedness of these two fields is often resolved via corporate social responsibility, but it entails a lot more than that. It transcends into the very essence of persons and their pertinent role in the success of every business venture, yet these rights are often set aside.
In light of this, one of the primary goals of the event is to employ a deeper understanding on how business and human rights could be promulgated in all ventures across different industries and sectors. The Business Law Conference is a dynamic avenue for students and advocates alike to take part in an initiative for the betterment of our country, given the unexplored nature of the subject matter which possesses an indisputable potential for the ripples of change we yearn to see.
Given the lack of awareness about these relevant matters, Ley La Salle, together with the Commercial Law Department, aims to delineate the urgency to be well-equipped with the knowledge for the youth to channel out their advocacies and capabilities for the upliftment of human rights in their prospective careers. The anticipated event will be from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, a promising afternoon that features a line-up of keynote speakers and an interactive panel discussion to encourage students to garner a sense of responsibility and empathy for social issues in pursuing their endeavors.
