Currently, the global pandemic COVID-19 has affected various sectors: the medical, the workforce, and now the educational sector is at stake. Our students face a new trial as the incoming school year is set to resume on October 5 through online means despite the current pandemic we are facing. According to a recent post published by the UP System, more than 5600 students in the UP Diliman campus alone fear of not being able to continue their studies brought by the new demand of attending classes. Considering the fact that not everyone has access to a device and a stable internet connection, adapting to the unfamiliar online setting will not be easy.
In light of this, the UP Pre-Medical Society of UP Diliman has decided to launch SULONG–a donation drive that aims to reach out to students in need, by providing them with the means to pursue their online education. Through this project, the organization hopes to capacitate the students of the UP community by providing them with a SULONG package, complete with one device (either a laptop or a tablet with a wireless keyboard), a sim card, and prepaid mobile data. According to the organization, “small acts of kindness will definitely go a long way for the dreams of other people.”
With your help, more students will be equipped with the means to continue their education in this time of uncertainty. The UP Pre-Medical Society aims to raise an initial amount of Php 600,000 in order to provide as much help to UP Diliman students and the children of street vendors in the UP community. We are invited to assist them in helping these students through cash or in-kind donations for laptop and tablet devices. Cash donations will be used to purchase SULONG packages for the beneficiaries. In-kind donations, such as new, spare, or even pre-loved devices and equipment, will be inspected by their partner organization, U.P. Circuit, to ensure their quality and usability before turning them over to the student beneficiaries. As part of the organization’s gratitude for the generous donations, donors will also get the chance to be part of our raffle and win a mystery device! Every cash donation of Php 100 will merit one raffle (1) e-ticket, while each in-kind donation is worth at least 50 e-tickets.
No help is too small. Together, let us be one in giving back and giving life! For more details and updates, here is a quick guide to their important posts and forms.

Not everybody has smartphones or laptops. The people who can’t afford these gadgets have to suffer a lot. Their kids can not attend their online classes.
