The Ancient Greek Philosopher Plato considers a democracy an inferior form of government and holds the view that there are no guarantees of elected officials having the virtues that best express the interest of the masses. Today, this becomes evident because voting, the people’s avenue to express their sovereignty, is not exercised properly. In order to incite change and allow a democracy to flourish, having a well informed and educated voter is vital.
With that said, EXCEL2022 brings you AdvocaSeries: On National Elections, a three-episode podcast here to help Filipinos arrive at a vote that best represents the country’s best interests. The program is meant to present the importance of voting, provide an idea on essential characteristics needed by future leaders, and ultimately to teach ways on how individuals can conduct research on their specific candidates. Ensuring a bright future is what every Filipino hopes for and as a democratic country it begins with making a choice. As Paul Wellstone would put it “The only way to change is to vote. People are responsible”. At the end of the day, if we want change, we have to make sure that the vote we will make on May 9 is right.
