PRESS RELEASE: DLSU AB-OCM 119’s Event Management group conducts online convention on Filipino Drag Queens

The De La Salle University-Manila’s AB Organizational Communication Batch 119’s Tenfold MNL, a group for their Events Management class, will hold a one-day online convention entitled “QUEENtessential” this June 24 at 1:00 PM-5:30 PM via Zoom meeting and Facebook livestream to exhibit more of the drag world in the Philippines this pride month. 

In partnership with Spaces MNL and LoveYourself PH, QUEENtessential aims for young Filipinos to grasp more of the drag culture and debunk the misconceptions about LQBTQIA+ representation on virtual platforms. The event has three segments LGBTQIA+-rated comedy: What’s so funny, Karen?, drag roundtable discussion, and drag performances. 

LGBTQIA+-rated comedy: What’s so funny, Karen?  will be led by the guest speakers Mr. Paolo Pangilinan, a Filipino lead actor from Gaya sa Pelikula, and Dolly Dulu, a director, writer, and producer known for their The Boy Foretold By the Stars and Love Beneath the Stars. The drag roundtable discussion will let Maria Christina, founder of Drag Academy PH with Spaces MNL,  and Kiki Krunch, a drag artist and a HIV/AIDS awareness advocate, to share their experiences and struggles as a part of the Philippines’ drag community.

After a series of question and answer portion for the roundtable discussion, the event will end with the performances of Kiki Krunch, Maria Christina, and Dee Dee Marie.
