UAAP: Lady Woodpushers drop head-to-head matchup against Blue Eagles

After a weekend to remember when they bested the top-seeded FEU Lady Tamaraws, the DLSU Lady Woodpushers received a heartbreaking loss against their rivals ADMU Blue Eagles, 3-1, earlier today, November 15, at the FEU Tech Building.

Arena FIDE Master Sara Olendo and Woman National Master Francois Magpily had a stalemate result against Kristine Flores and Elayza Villa on boards four and three, respectively. Meanwhile, it was an afternoon to learn from for both Checy Telesforo and Rinoa Sadey, who dropped a point each against Jiessel Marino and Alphecca Gonzales on boards one and four, respectively.

For team captain Olendo, this loss against their rivals Ateneo is a tough pill to swallow, but she still looks at the positives, expressing, “It’s heartbreaking and it’s kinda disappointing pero still a good fight from all of us.”

As the season nears its end, the Lady Woodpushers will not go out without a fight. Olendo stresses the importance of finishing the season strong. “For the last two rounds, dapat namin ibalik ‘yung focus talaga sa game and para makita namin mga tactics and all,” she said, adding, “I think we really need to utilize the use of our time syempre sa game.”

(For the last two rounds, we need to bring back our focus on the game so we can see our tactics and all.)

The DLSU Lady Woodpushers will be in action again, next up against the UST Lady Tigresses this Saturday, November 18, at the FEU Tech Building in Sampaloc, Manila.
