PRESS RELEASE: Thriving Together: Inclusion and Representation for Neurodiversity in the Classroom

Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Sikolohiya’s Term 1 Flagship event, “Thriving Together: Inclusion and Representation for Neurodiversity in the Classroom” aims to challenge conventional perceptions of learning by promoting awareness and advocacy. Taking place on the 19th of November from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, the event will showcase understanding neurodiversity through the lens of inclusivity as a key to foster more compassionate and equitable learning environments for neurodiverse learners.

This seminar serves as a platform for an open dialogue on neurodivergence in academia among the Lasallian community, including all colleges of undergraduate studies. Spearheaded by Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Sikolohiya (SMS) under the guidance of Office of Counseling and Career Services (OCCS) and in collaboration with several internal organizations, the premier Psychology organization of DLSU is steadfast in its aim of spreading awareness and disseminating information on topics relevant to Psychology through debunking misconceptions, challenging stigma, and promoting systemic support for neurodivergent learners.

Thriving Together will culminate in a compelling exchange of lived experiences and professional insights, led by DLSU Alumni and Autistic Autism Researcher Mr. Juan Alfonzo “Japonz” Pulhin Dacumos (AB-PSM, ‘25) and Registered Guidance Counselor Dr. Analyn “Kitz” Murphy-Ripotola.

Concluding the insightful sharing on neurodivergence in the Philippine university landscape, the open forum invites the DLSU community to express their reflections and questions, upholding an inclusive participation in the discourse of shaping a campus culture grounded in empathy and equity.
