PRESS RELEASE: Philippine Model ASEAN Meeting 2026 Officially Launches as the Nation’s Youth-Led Contribution to the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship

The Philippine Model ASEAN Meeting (PHMAM) 2026 officially launches as the country’s flagship youth-led initiative aligned with the Philippines’ upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026. Supported by the ASEAN Foundation, PHMAM 2026 brings together outstanding young leaders from across the Philippines for a national simulation of ASEAN’s decision-making processes — reflecting the Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural pillars that define regional cooperation.

The conference will take place from January 8 to 11, 2026, in the National Capital Region (venue to be announced), under the theme “Ascend ASEAN: Navigating Cohesion for a Future-Ready Region.” This marks the first-ever nationwide Model ASEAN Meeting to be hosted in the Philippines endorsed by the ASEAN Foundation, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to nurturing youth diplomacy, inclusivity, and regional understanding.

As the Philippines chairs ASEAN once again, PHMAM 2026 stands as a meaningful opportunity for young Filipinos to take part in the region’s historic journey. This is most especially as Timor-Leste is formally welcomed as ASEAN’s newest member state. The conference will culminate in the adoption of a Youth Chairman’s Statement, a policy document that mirrors the Philippines’ official priorities during 2026.

“PHMAM 2026 is more than a simulation. We envision for it to be a nation-building platform that empowers young Filipinos to be active contributors to ASEAN’s future. As we take on this historic moment, we aim to show that the Filipino youth not only learns diplomacy, but lives it,” said Sean Matthew Parra (University of Santo Tomas), Zarah Ysabel Tortocion (De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde), and Rhea Docena Balaysoche (University of the Philippines), the three youth leaders spearheading PHMAM 2026.

“We envision PHMAM 2026 as a space where ideas meet purpose. Where the next generation of ASEAN leaders can rise together in unity, integrity, and collaboration.”

From their experience as the official Philippine delegates to the ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting – East Asia Summit (AFMAM EAS) 2025 in Jakarta, the organizing team now brings that regional experience home through PHMAM 2026. The initiative symbolizes the passing of the ASEAN torch to the next generation of Filipino leaders, aligning directly with the Philippines’ role as ASEAN Chair.

Beyond academic learning, PHMAM 2026 serves as a call for collective participation. PHMAM 2026 invites universities, government agencies, youth organizations, NGOs, and private institutions across the country to join the initiative as partners in nation-building. Institutions and youth organizations interested in partnership opportunities may reach the organizing committee at [email protected].

Meanwhile, delegate applications for PHMAM 2026 are now open. Filipino youth passionate about diplomacy, governance, and regional affairs are encouraged to apply through the official PHMAM social media pages at facebook.com/phmam.official and instagram.com/phmam.official for complete details, announcements, and registration links.

    About PHMAM 2026

  • Premier Summit 2025: Where Dreams Guide Tomorrow’s Visionaries

Premier Summit 2025: Where Dreams Guide Tomorrow’s Visionaries

Every leader’s journey begins with a story. Some start with a dream, others with a bold spark, yet each one is bound by the same passion and desire to look beyond the present and envision the future that lies ahead. This is the driving force behind Premier Summit 2025: Sinag ng Hiraya, the annual flagship event of the Industrial Management Engineering Society (IMES), which is dedicated to guiding Industrial Engineering students as they venture through their own paths and leadership journeys. With that being said, the event will commence on November 8, 2025 (Saturday) from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, at the Fajardo-Rosario Gonzales Auditorium, 18th Floor, Br. Andrew Gonzales Hall, De La Salle University.

For this iteration of Premier Summit, this year’s theme centers on “Visionary Leadership,” wherein Sinag ng Hiraya represents the art of imagining the future, shaping dreams into direction, and turning intention into action. This invites every participant to become the storyteller of their life with the ability to see possibilities before they take place and create paths that lead to new horizons.

Joining us are two distinguished speakers: Mr. Jesus Joey T. Marcelo and Ms. Cheryl Patricia Uy. Mr. Marcelo’s talk, “The Power of a Personal Vision,” will explore how leaders ground themselves in self-awareness, understanding what drives them, what they value, and the purpose that guides their actions. This is followed by Ms. Uy’s “Seeing Beyond the Present,” which discusses the transition from student leadership to the professional landscape.

Aligned with IMES’ mission to nurture leaders who can transform industries and communities, Premier Summit 2025 offers a space for inspiring talks, interactive sessions, and collaborative workshops that encourage participants to shape their own visions. It creates an environment where future leaders listen to one another’s stories, strengthen each other’s dreams, and build upon the foundations of the impact they hope to make.

  • PRESS RELEASE: Code, Compete, Conquer: Steel the Show at Robolympics 2025!

PRESS RELEASE: Code, Compete, Conquer: Steel the Show at Robolympics 2025!

The future is here, and it’s rolling in on track treads and servo motors. Committed to building towards this vision, Robolympics 2025 celebrates the unceasing forward march of innovation and the curious minds that shape it. This July, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers – De La Salle University Chapter (SME – DLSU) is bringing back its flagship event to gather the brightest young minds all over the country. Still focusing on strategy and teamwork, this year’s event promises to be the stepping-stone of next-generation engineering talent.

Hot on the heels of Robolympics 2024, where over 29 teams from different high schools duked it out on the arena, this year’s Robolympics will bring back these classic but challenging events: line tracing, sumobot, and robot football. Once again, students won’t just be solving problems on paper—they’ll be building real machines to meet objectives under pressure.

Line tracing is a test of precision. Here, students design robots equipped with sensors that must follow a complex black line path on a white surface. What appears simple on the surface reveals deeper engineering questions: How do you program efficient turns? How do you handle broken lines or intersections? Winning bots will demonstrate clean code, tight turning radii, and consistent sensor calibration.

Thereafter, the sumobot competition will turn up the intensity. Two robots will face off in a ring and attempt to push each other out, much like a miniature version of sumo wrestling. Students will once more be tested: this time, they’ll have to balance speed and power with defensive strategies. Too fast, and the bot might fling itself out of the ring; too slow, and it’ll be pushed aside. Success often lies in clever design—this means low centers of gravity, strategically placed sensors, and well-timed movement scripts.

The third and most dynamic event is robot football, where teams will control multiple robots to dribble, pass, and shoot a small ball into the opponent’s goal. It’s chaotic, fast-paced, and intensely collaborative. Robot football demands not just individual bot performance, but coordination between units. Students must be able to oversee real-time control, wireless communication, and field positioning—all while adapting to their opponents’ unpredictable moves.

Adding depth to this year’s program are four featured speakers to bring both academic and industry experience to the stage. Dr. Andres Philip Mayol will present on the rebranding of Mechatronics Engineering. He’ll offer fresh perspectives regarding the field’s continuous evolution in the face of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, and how students can position themselves to benefit from these changes.

Complementing this, Engr. Alexandra Oropesa, a proud alumna of the program, will share her development in her professional journey. Moreover, she’ll offer valuable testimony on how robotics has helped shape her career path.

Meanwhile, Engr. Richard Josiah Tan Ai will present a live demonstration of the Annin Robotics AR4 robo arm to show its flexibility, how it can find application in the educational and industrial fields. Similarly, Mark Angelo Lubreza, a BS-MS student of the program, will conduct a Dobot robotic arm demonstration, providing an up-close look at one of the most popular training tools in modern robot education.

Robolympics 2025 will be held on July 9 and 11 at the Pardo Hall (located on the 5th floor of the Henry Sy Sr. Hall) of De La Salle University. Students, educators, families, and tech professionals are all invited to witness the next generation of Filipino engineers in action.

With the clatter of robots, the hum of sensors, and the roar of students as their ideas come to life, Robolympics 2025 proves one thing: the future isn’t just coming, it’s already being built.
