On DLSU’s centennial year, Coach Franz Pumaren and Joseph Evans “JV” Casio start their new careers in different teams.
Pumaren, mentor of five DLSU UAAP men’s basketball champion squads, is now the head coach of PBA’s newest team, Shopinas.com Clickers.
Another Archer, Joseph Evans “JV” Casio, brought the Animo pride on a bigger battle as he is the PBA 2011’s 1st overall pick. He was drafted by the Powerade Tigers after a remarkable stint with the national men’s basketball squad, Smart Gilas.
Franz Pumaren, who also started as an Archer, and then became an Archer’s mentor, is now trying to build his name in his first pro league coaching race.
JV Casio’s PBA career is on a roller coaster ride. After being drafted, he suffered an injury that made him miss three consecutive opening games. On his first few games, he struggled with only 16 field goal percentage.
From a Lasallian leader to a national playmaker, Casio is leading the Tigers through his assists and scoring ability. He has an average of 9.00 points per game (ppg) and 5.62 assists per game (apg). On the last three games of the stalwart point guard, he averaged 16.3 ppg and 8.5 apg.
