Last February 24, the DLSU Dragon Boat team participated in the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation (PCKF) race held at Manila Bay and finished the finals at third place, fourth place and second place, respectively. The tournament was a mock and friendly race funded by the government.
The race gave local teams an opportunity to compete. The aforementioned event consists of three divisions: women’s, men’s and mixed of both.
Ending the 200m heat, the women’s team placed second. Both the men’s and mixed division group went straight to the finals after winning first place in the elimination round.
DLSU dragon boat veteran Kim Aquino commended the performance of the team. He lauded, “Not to mention that the lineup includes a mix of rookies and veterans.”
The team focused on improving their lapses and remained driven to reach the finals.
He added, “In upcoming races, for sure gaganda pa yung performance kasi nakita namin yung lakas from that mock race.”
With their minds set on improvement, the team is looking forward to compete in more tournaments in the future.
